South African human rights activist Kumi Naidoo was made
International Executive Director of Greenpeace in late 2009. He is
the first African to head the organisation.
Kumi Naidoo's inspirational personal history saw him expelled from
high school for his work in the liberation struggle, and arrested
for the role he played in mobilising his community.
Forced into exile, he nonetheless went on to win a Rhodes
Scholarship and receive a doctorate in political sociology from the
University of Oxford.
Before joining Greenpeace, he was the General Secretary of
CIVICUS, the World Alliance for Citizen Participation, and was one
of the founders of the Global Call to Action Against Poverty.
Coming up in April....
Legendary South African comedian Mark Banks will address the SA
Business Club on April 7th!
